Reebok ad campaign pulled...
http://www.barstoolu.com/#random-tho...t-ad-campaign/ (Link isn't exactly work and family safe, the content is fine but it is a mens 18-35 website, so-to-speak)
In short: "A controversial Reebok ad has been removed from display following widespread complaints. The poster, which ran at a gym affiliated with the brand in Germany, was intended to motivate, with the slogan: ‘Cheat on your girlfriend, not on your workout." |

Re: Reebok ad campaign pulled...
If they had another one that said "cheat on your boyfriend..." would it have been OK?

Re: Reebok ad campaign pulled...
This thing is really going viral. All the new agencies are picking it up.

Re: Reebok ad campaign pulled...
I would've expected a bit more tact, IMO

Re: Reebok ad campaign pulled...
It's on Huffington Post (WFS) but no mention of CF, just Reebok.

Re: Reebok ad campaign pulled...
I think most people's problems with it is that Reebok denied it was their ad first of all and basically claimed photoshop...then a VIDEO of it was released and a day or two later Reebok pulled the ads.
No matter what...I thought Reebok would have had more tact. It was a campaign focused in Germany and all companies need to realize...marketing is global now, whether you intend for it to be or not. The ad was never meant to be viewed in the America's by the sounds of it...but since it was and people object and hold them to a higher standard of tact and decency - they pulled it. Good job for Reebok to realize that trying to be funny in a marketing campaign with somewhat less than desirable tactics can upset some people. The REAL irony is that the total campaign is 100% completely un-original....as bodybuilding.com had shirts with the "girlfriend" saying long ago and its been discontinued. lol |
