I am sure you have seen it all before and I know there are more elaborate versions out there, but if you read the post it will make sense on why I made such a simple version...all that really matters...It works!!
Thanks for all the tips. Planning on doing a lot of this stuff this weekend so we can kick off WODing at home next week.

Re: DIY CrossFit Equipment

Jerred - Made the squat/bench stand last weekend, seems to work great! Next up I need a plyo box... but I need to get myself a power saw first, the squat stand was hard enough to do by hand and get the right dimensions, especially the notches for the bar!

What would your thoughts be about doing something like this instead to help 'catch' the bar @ the top?

You could still cut it @ a 60", take 5 inches down basically, and then clear out a 1-2 inch deep, 2 inch wide spot in the middle. Again the idea is not to 'rush' against the wood to secure it but gives one a better way to help find that 'hole' to rest it in.

Hey Jerred, love your site! It inspired me to build my own CF garage gym that I have now been using for months. Many of my friends come over to work out with me and my wife.

I used your idea for a bench/squat rack and played with it a bit using Shawn's idea. On one side is the bench rack height and the squat height. On the other side I added "handles" for dips. I put kettlebells on them to help with stabilization. The two rack "pieces" can be flipped around between rack usage and dip station usage - see attached pic. Thought you'd like to see!

I love it and it has worked great so far.
