squat rack

Any good suggestions for a squat rack? The good, the bad, and ugly about ones that you recommend or to avoid. I'm looking for a good one for my garage.

Thanks!
Dennis

Rogue racks look pretty legit to me.

Re: squat rack

You can get some pretty nice squat racks if you look on craigslist for $150-$300 used. Ones that would probably go for $600+ used.

Re: squat rack

IMO, avoid a squat rack all together and just get stands.

I like the idea of a rack because of the safetys, so instead of dumping the bar for squat or bench he can just set it down. From what I have seen I don't think squat stands have safetys on them, although I could be wrong.

Re: squat rack

I've always been a big fan of the portable squat racks in this style:

The portable nature of this style is perfect for a garage; it makes it easy to move out of the way when you need more space.
I've had this one and an IronMind squat rack just like it for over ten years.

I love IronMind products but their squat rack is a little pricey compared to the Bradshaw Welding product. I would never use the chinup attachment either; not stable enough.

links are work/family safe.

You can get safety spotter attachments for Rogue's S series of stands. If I had $400 I'd probably go for Rogue's S1.

Re: squat rack

Thanks for the tips and suggestions. Mostly I'll order something from Rouge within the next few days. It should be a fun time in the garage once it arrives.
