myfirst crossfit workout: Helen

I am middle distance runner at a university, and we got a strength and conditioning coach. He started to implement, crossfit workout in our preseason workout that take place in between cross country and Track and Field season. He made us to the Helen, workout and I enjoyed it thoroughly. I completed it in 7:18(I could surely have run a sub 7) and I was doing the workout at about 65 percent. I can run a 400m at 49 secs and a mile in about 4:16. I am also pretty solid as I weigh about 150 and I am 5'7. I was wondering if this is a good time, as I might want to try crossfit in my future after running is done.

thanks guys.

See how your other numbers stack up with those above.

5'7" and 150 described as "solid" is subjective. Strength numbers will be objective and absolute, and strength is a must to be competitive in the games.

Great time on Helen!

Re: myfirst crossfit workout: Helen

yes your right Jason. i would have focus more on my strength, but I am as strong if not stronger than the sprinters on my team, as I have been lifting hard since highschool. I would love to train specifically for crossfit because I feel my endurance, and my the strength that I developed from doing olympic lifts, would help me. But crossfit is a beast, and I think the Helen is more suited for a runner, as the other workouts seemed quite hard

That's the thing about Crossfit. Some workouts will be easier for runners, some for gymnasts, some for lifters. Unfortunately, you don't get to pick which ones to do.
