Any older crossfitters on the boards?

I have been doing Crossfit for about 4 months and love it! Wish this has been around when I was younger!

I have been fortunate to have a good base of strength to build on, in addition to a patient and phenomenal certified trainer working with me.

While I don't like to consider myself old at 54, I have found that my body just doesn't cooperate the same as years ago. I learned (the hard way) that the warm ups and stretches (both before and after) are as important as the workout for me in Crossfit. The scaling has also been kind of a fine dance - finding the right level that is a challenge, but not going over the line into what will injure me.

Just looking for some words of wisdom/advice/encouragement from others facing the same challenges and circumstances.

No, it doesn't.

OP, there are a lot, there are some older threads entitled "older cf'ers" or something, do a lil' search and you should find stuff.

Re: Any older crossfitters on the boards?

I'm 52, but I don't post much though. But started CF about 3 yrs. ago. Off and On the past year while training for marathons. But now I'm getting back at CF again. Yes, I would have been one hell of a star athlete if I had CF around back in high school. Our football team didn't even have a weight room back then. As for WOD's, I scale back the weight amounts but still do all reps and intensity as I can. I've got a do-it-yourself garage workout area.

I'm not quite 50 but someone recommended that I join in on the "over 50 crossfitters sign in" thread under workout logs. Great group of wise folks over there. I'll be 48 in the spring and have been doing CF since July.

I may be older than some, but only 58. My only advice; just keep it up.

Im only 31 (32 in a few months) and its the same for me. I have just been diving into these forums as deep as i can reading and learning as much as i can. There are lots of helpful people here that give great advice. I did a DL with bad form about 4 weeks ago, and suffered for the next 2... The CFJ exercise demos really help, for me anyhow.

My hats off to you! enjoy

Re: Any older crossfitters on the boards?

Thanks for the advice and insight from everyone.

Jason and Anson - 36 and 37 are definitely not old! But, if you think you are I will trade - you can be 54 and I will be 36!
