Lifting suits

Why did someone invent a piece of clothing that allows you to be stronger with it, and why do they allow their use in competitions? Just doesn't make sense to me.

I guess it is the same mentality of building a suit that allows swimmers to swim faster...

I think that at some point it becomes acceptable and then sometimes go out of favor again. See the new Oly changes regarding suits for swimmers.

Yeah, the powerlifting suits are so tight and restrictive that they can't even move around. I don't think it's possible to do a bodyweight squat while wearing one. You literally need the barbell to push you down into the hole. If you ever want to see something funny, try and find a video of a guy the size of a refrigerator trying to get into one of those suits! It's a team effort:-)
On a side note, I've considered making an Iron Cross shirt with reinforced armpits...
