20 Girls Over Spring Break
Since I've never been one to fly down to Mexico and party with my fellow drunk college students, I figured I would spend this spring break getting intimate with the girls of CrossFit. I am giving myself one week (from 12:01 Monday to 11:59 Sunday) to complete each of the girl WODs. I am doing this for the challenge mainly, and the sense of satisfaction knowing I spent my spring break doing something to push my body to a new limit. I picked the girl WODs because most of them require raw endurance and a very good mix of short work load stress (Fran, Angie) to endurance workloads (Kelly, Eva). Below I am going to post the workouts I did on each day, how I did them, my times ect.
A few of these workouts I modify slightly, and I understand they aren't RXed. For instance I do Barbara with 12 dead hang pull ups instead of 20 kipping. I will make sure to state whether I changed anything around. I understand that this may seem easy to some, and extreme to others, but this is a perfect challenge for the level I'm at. I was introduced to CrossFit back in September and I've been devoted to it since November. This is a perfect challenge for where I'm at. Brief history - I used to be in the Navy, and I always enjoyed heavy lifts (I hit a 405 dead lift before I turned 19), 5ks, leg days and sprints. When I got out of the service I ballooned up to 275 before I started lifting again. Half of the girls I haven't even tried yet, so if it's a new workout I'll post that it's new. I'm not expecting to break records, just to survive and put out decent times. Age - 24 Weight -220-225 (depends on what I ate) Height - 5'9 -- Monday, March 30th. 12:01 Annie 50, 40, 30, 20 and 10 rounds of double unders/sit ups Did these in my garage. I didn't wear shoes and that's the last time I'll do that as I wasted a good minute rubbing the pain away from my feet. My DU rhythm is 1 DU, 1 SU. The sit ups were unanchored. Total Time - 11:07 |

Re: 20 Girls Over Spring Break
Why aren't you kipping your pull-ups?
Sounds like a fun time. |

Re: 20 Girls Over Spring Break
Monday, March 30th.
9:30PM Nicole (New!!!) Max rounds of 400m run/max PU The track at my gym is 1/10 of a mile, so I have to partition my quarter mile run workouts with three laps round 1, two laps round 2, repeat. I did 8 rounds in the 3/2 cycle. It's not exactly the wod, but I'm doing the same effort and energy output. 1. 10 2. 12 3. 15 4. 8 5. 5 (hand slipped off the bar) 6. 8. 7. 10 8. 12 Finished at 20:00:59 -------------- Same day 10:20PM Isabel 30 x 135 snatch for time I don't know how to snatch, I'm still practicing. Snatch's and muscle ups require to much technique for me to learn without someone actually teaching me. So I subbed 65 pounds and just focused on form. If anyone feels that this doesn't count as an actual girl workout give me an adequate substitution and I'll work it in. |

Re: 20 Girls Over Spring Break
Tuesday, March 31st.
1:25PM Barbara 5 sets of 20 pull ups, 30 push ups, 40 sit ups, 50 squats. 3 minutes rest in between. I changed it 12 deadhang pull ups, rest RXed. I did these in my garage and did the pull ups on my rings. 1st - 3:12 2nd - 3:22 3rd - 4:07 4th - 3:32 5th - 5:35 (had the puke lump in my throat the entire 5th round). Side note - the first two times I ever attempted Barbara I was doing them with 2 minutes rest in between each round, and it seemed easier (plus no puke feeling) then doing it with 3 minutes....does 3 minutes rest make it harder? ----------- Tuesday, March 31st 9:15 PM Linda (3 bars of death) (New!!!!) 10, 9, 8, 7...1 of 1 1/2 bodyweight deadlift, body weight bench, 3/4 bodyweight clean. Did these at my gym. I brought my Dad with me to help me out in spotting. My grip was failing me from the start, so I scaled down to 315 deadlift on round 8. During round 4 my calice (spelling) on my left hand burst open. I took about ten minutes to bandage it and continued on. If it wasn't for my grip on the deadlift I could have shaved 15 minutes off of this easily. Weight - 224 Deadlift - 335 Bench - 225 Clean - 165 Total time (including the bandaging) - 41 minutes. |

Re: 20 Girls Over Spring Break
Wednesday, April 1st.
1:15PM Angie (Sort of new, did Angie before but I partioned the sets) 100 pull ups, 100 push ups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats for time. (Must be done in order). I did these in my garage and the pull ups on the rings. Since my left hand is split open I had to do the pull ups with my fingertips and it slowed me down by a good amount. I finished my pull ups around the 11 minute mark, but I never went into this for time, just survival. Pull ups were done with rings, sit ups were done anchored. Total Time - 17:58 7 girls down, 13 to go (I can notice my body getting fatigued, and I hope no one equates these times to me being out of shape, this is really taxing on the body). |

Re: 20 Girls Over Spring Break
Wednesday, April 1st.
8:45PM Jackie 1000m row, 50 45lb thruster, 30 pull ups Nothing special to note here, knocked this out at my gym. I have no idea if my time was good or not. Total Time - 7:58 Same day 9:15PM Karen (New!!!) 150 wall ball throws (20lb ball) My gym doesn't have a 20lb ball, they have a 25lb and a 16 pound so I did 70 reps of the 25lb and 80 of the 16 pound. Total Time - 8:55 The lighter ball was easier to manipulate, but I felt the burn more with each rep. 9 girls down, 11 to go! |
