I'm too tired. I'm married & have 2 kids, ages 8 mos and 2 & 1/2. I also work a very stressful job-I'm an assistant DA in a big city and I prosecute people who rape/torure/murder etc. women and children.
I don't have time to myself until about 9:45 each evening. I've found that I feel best if I only do yoga as my exercise, although I've added some elements of Pavel Tsatsouline's training to include either deadlifts or db snatches to maintain leg strength, since I have an old knee injury & I must keep my legs strong. I also usually do a couple sets of overhead presses of some sort, too.
What would crossfit offer to me and how should I go about doing it?

Read the foundations page and go to:
http://www.girevikmagazine.com/Girev...nterviews5.htm

Read the interview with Coach and also the free crossfit journal. You will benefit by improving each of the ten components of fitness t the same time. Most fo the workouts are lessthan 20-min. some as short as 7...it is time efficient and productive. As Coach mentions peoples needs differ only in degree not in kind.

Re: I want to start cross fit but...

I am a single mom with two children ages 2 and 4 and work full time as a catastrophic injury specialist, so I know just what you mean about having no time and being too stressed and tired.

BUT

I decided to commit to three months of CrossFit ONLY.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I am an addict.

I feel better about all aspects of my life since I started CrossFit. I feel healthier, stronger, faster, (my Fran is 6:44), and, perhaps most importantly, less stressed.

I CrossFit 4 times per week usually and I don't dilly dally. I get in, I work out, and I get back to my kids (unless I bring them with me of course). The work outs are INTENSE. All that aggression, frustration, anger, and negative energy get channeled into wondering how in the world you are going to get through the WOD without throwing up. You CAN'T think about your job, your budget, home repairs, etc. If you can, you aren't working out hard enough and you will have to bump up either the speed or the weight. Talk about cathartic! In the end your flat on your back on the floor and let me tell you you are NOT thinking about your job!

That's my $0.02. Try it, you'll like it, you'll feel better, play better, work better, and be stronger.

Good luck! I hope you find what you are looking for.

You need to budget your time first it sounds like.

No offense meant here, but everyone has time, just some people make better use of it.

Re: I want to start cross fit but...

Reminds me of this old commerical where some guy is living in this trailer home without a pot to **** and recieves his acceptance letter from Harvard 20 years later in the mail. IF only he recieved the letter on time he wouldn't be in the situation he was in.

Curious now if David is still part of the community. Hopefully he wasn't holding his breath for the last four years waiting for Elizabeth's post Lol.

Haha, don't feel too bad. It's a good question to answer.
