Nothing can stop me now

June 2006, started CF by doing scaled CFWUs. Oct 19, 2007, diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, Stage IIa. Thursday, Jan 17 I had my 4th of 8 chemo treatments. Half way there. Pre-diagnosis I was averaging 20 WO/month, post-diagnosis, the average has dropped to 16/month.

I should add that my oncologist says I'm exhibiting a, "complete clinical response," to the treatment.

I thought it would be a good time to reflect on some CF achievements in the last 3 months. I've not been able to read or post here as much as I used to, but I've never forgotten the CF community, you guys and gals are a real inspiration.

PRs in:

shoulder press
push jerk
Fight Gone Bad
Tabata Something Else
30 muscle-ups
weighted pullups

Outside of workouts, I've cleaned up my diet even more, moving inexorably toward paleo and IF (while dealing with fatigue, diarrhea, nausea, changing tastes and a raging appetite), I'm sleeping better, I've rediscovered my spirituality, I've reinvigorated my environmental and social activism. I've continued working full-time as a firefighter. All round, I've never felt better, except for being bald.

I don't want to make like cancer has been easy. I'm not out of the woods yet. And for all those out there who are in a much more difficult battle with cancer, or whatever ails you, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Undoubtedly, CrossFit, clean eating, good sleeps and a positive attitude are 90% of the battle.

But, in short, watch out world, nothing can stop me now.

Kick some *** Robert!! And no hair is awesome - you can have a nap at lunch and you don't have to fix your hair when you get up!

Re: Nothing can stop me now

Robert is a serious inspiration for me. I remember reading about him on the Comments page before I went to the Toronto certification, and thinking "Wow! What a positive attitude!". Not realizing how small of a world it is, I met him there (unbeknownst to me who he was at the time, as his nametag only said "Robert"), and I was struck by how determined he was, and how he cranked out not only his first M/U there, but his second and third.

It wasn't until after I got home from the certification and saw the interview that Tony B did with him that he was "that" Robert [Olajos]. I felt somewhat star-struck to know that I had been in the presence of somebody who is not letting something like cancer keep him down, and without all the Oprah Dr Phil airy-fairy crap, just quiet determination (I don't think too many people at the cert knew about his battle with cancer, as he certainly didn't advertise it).

Any time I feel blah or that I'm too tired to give 'er, I think of Robert's efforts, and give myself a kick in the arse. So many inspirational stories in the CF community. Keep 'em coming.
