Rice

Hey all, just had a question about rice.
I tend to eat rice about 4-5 times a week, usualy for supper, because its very easy to make and relatively inexpensive.

Is rice actually bad for you?
If so is there any rice that are better for you like say wild rice, being that it is a grass rather then a grain?

There are better choices...
White rice is a simple carb that raises the blood sugar level quickly, contains more calories, less vitamins and fiber. They are broken down quickly in the body and will have you feeling hungry in a short period of time.

Fruits/Veggies on the other hand are full of vitamins/minerals and contain lots of fiber and contain less calories as a whole.

The bottom line is that everyone chooses to eat as healthy as is comfortable for them. Keep in mind there may be better choice you could be making. Make one change at a time if that's easier.

thanks so much, i will definitly keep that in mind maybe ill be able to cut out the rice some time

If you're going to stick with rice for now, use brown or wild, or at least cut your white rice with it. I don't have any data to back this up, but I suspect that wild rice is leaps and bounds better than white.
