Olympic Weight Lifting Certification
I have been looking everywhere for a weekend olympic weight lifting certification to learn more about snatch and clean and jerk form and about teaching others. I am not even sure what association to look under as USAW brings up nothing when I google it. I would like to do a cert outside of crossfit to learn more outside of a crossfit environment so if anyone knows any I am looking for one in the New Jersey area.

Re: Olympic Weight Lifting Certification
Go to http://weightlifting.teamusa.org/ (w/f/s) - the very first result when "USAW" is googled.

Re: Olympic Weight Lifting Certification
The direct link to the certification page for USAW is: http://weightlifting.teamusa.org/coa...-certification (WFS).
I'm doing the USAW cert in January. I've also done the Pendlay seminar, which I highly recommend, and the Wilkes seminar. For the money, those are totally worth it. |

Re: Olympic Weight Lifting Certification
Of course there is also the CF Oly Cert which can be found on the following page about 60% of the way down the page:

Re: Olympic Weight Lifting Certification
The other thing to consider is doing some one-on-one training with a good Oly coach in your area.

Re: Olympic Weight Lifting Certification
Tommy, you're in Mount Laurel? You're 20 minutes away from the Moorestown Weightlifting Club, the Moorestown, NJ satellite of East Coast Gold, a big Oly weightlifting team. The main coach at that location is Victor Gallego, he is an excellent coach and has worked with a number of national/international level lifters.
The ECG website is www.eastcoastgold.org (WFS). Click on "Satellite Centers" and "NJ" and it'll be at the top of the page. Membership is $20/month. It is a RIDICULOUSLY good deal. You will learn a lot. I think the best way to learn to teach the lifts is to first learning them by figuring out what's wrong with your own, and learning progressions and whatnot. |

Re: Olympic Weight Lifting Certification
Thanks so much Emily. I actually met up with the trainers over at Crossfit South Baltimore awhile ago and they told me the exact same thing because they used to drive up there for lifting meets, so I was already planning on emailing them there but I expected it to cost much more than 20 dollars a month which is a great deal. Thanks again.
