Do you do anything in addition to WODs?
Forgive me if this is a commonly asked question:
What, if anything, do you do in addition to WODs? I want to improve my running, so I will throw in an additional day of running here and there (I CF 3-4x/week). I don't want to over train, but I do want to improve. I guess it's a fine line. |

Re: Do you do anything in addition to WODs?
Throwing in 1-2 days from crossfitendurance.com (WFS) per week will definitely help your running.
But depending on your training level might be a bit much for your body. Best is to try it and see how you react, if you start feeling overtrained (e.g. tired, lack of appetite, low motivation) cut either one of the run sessions or maybe a CF session depending on your goals. EDIT: I try to get in some sort of lifting and a metcon each day i train as well as rugby practise so adding to just your WODs can definitely be done, and is done by a lot of people on this board from what i know. |

Re: Do you do anything in addition to WODs?
Yeah, I do the daily WODS from CrossFitFootball.com, and I also do Westside Barbell style strength training, as well as running 2-3 days a week. I think a lot of people do something in addition to the WODs. Some people don't, but I think it all depends on your goals for yourself, and if just doing the WOD is going to help your individual goals.
Some people probably wonder why I don't just follow the strength training that's already on the site, and I feel that Westside style training fits in more with my goals. Kent |

Extra's beyond WODs depend on goals, level of experience and recovery ability. Definitely check out CF endurance if you want to focus on running.
I have mimimal endurance goals, besides just wanting some base CV for health. I feel strength has a lot of carryover to almost everything and feel most would benefit from some basic strength training program blended with some WODs to work metcons and help for overall fitness. |

Re: Do you do anything in addition to WODs?
For the most part I do WODs as fun and my "training" is lifting or interval training. Or I'll do the WOD as a warmup for that stuff. I think that the dangers of overtraining are vastly overstated for the most part.

Re: Do you do anything in addition to WODs?
I do CF about 3-4x per week. I'm also trying to improve my running, so I try to run an additional 1-2 days per week. I'm terrible at burpees, too. So I try to do 10 or so per day in hopes of improving. : )

I focus on my power lifts 3 days a week. Everything else is filler.
