You're right, 1-4 women's was the same as last year

Sadly, during the awards ceremony, they said Briggs was retiring

Only 1 guy and 1 girl didn't complete all events. That's pretty good. Koske's injury was odd in that it came right after he won the swim event. Anyone know any details?

I was in the stadium to watch that one. They did the same workout three times, each time the tip cap was increased. Barber sandbagged the first two (10th and 12th out of 12 guys), saving his energy to wrap up first place on the last event.

This year Mat Fraser was unbelievable on the suicide sprint and the plow events. He was middle of the pack through most of the event, but pushed hard through the end to finish at the top of the pack. That was crazy.

Watching Davidsdottir on the pegboard was also intense. She'd keep her elbows bent, which is the preferred technique. When her arms straightened out, I thought she was fatiguing and about to drop. Nope! She could still inch her way up one space at a time with straight arms.

I award myself one point for each athlete I guessed correctly, and another for correctly placing Fraser in first. Five points out of a possible 12.

Toomey was not a fluke as an rookie last year. Fraser was even hungrier than I imagined. You can't predict a rookie who might make the podium. Well done Vellner.

How long will it be before we see a woman from the US win the Games? Kari Pierce was the top US finisher at 5th place.
