A young man walking through New York City asked a gentleman on the street "How do I get to Carnegie Hall?"
The older man replied "Practice, young man, good teachers and constant practice". JK |

Thanks for posting that. It is so freaking cool! If I was trying to develop those abilities I would go heavy on the gymnastics, capoeira, and repeatedly watch Ong Bak and Shaolin Soccer.

They misspelled his name. That's Joe Eigo, whose site is linked on the front page (multilevelmoves.com). He trained for 12 years as a gymnast, and also did a lot of martial arts stuff.

looks like a combination of gymnastics and capoera with mabey a few extra moves tossed in.

The thing I've always loved about Joe Eigo is that he does relatively simple moves (as far as the tricking community is concerned) but he does them so effortlessly that they seem super-human. Take his flash kicks, for example. This is the move where you do a backflip layed out and can kick with one leg on the way over. He doesn't add any extra flare to the move, but on regular flat ground it looks like he could do a double if he really wanted to. They're just so smooth and floaty! If I only had HALF of his gymnastic ability!

He has a 40+ in. vert. I think that contributes to it some.

As a former gymnast myself the form makes me cringe. But it looks like he could have good technique if he wanted to.. he just doesn't want to. :P

Pretty, but can he fight?

Frank - why?
I don't see anything claiming that he is a superior figher. Maybe it's just supposed to be pretty, and pretty cool, and physically impressive. Seems kinda like seeing a good grappler nail a takedown and slap on a good submission and saying "yeah, but can he do an iron cross?" Frankly, I'd like to be able to do that, too, but not enough to motivate me to trade my BJJ and Escrima training time for TKD and Gymnastics. Sure is cool to be able to fly like that, though. JK (Message edited by kesslari on November 06, 2005) |
