C2 Watt Contest

Just wondering if anyone out there tried the Max Wattage Output challenge that was highlighted on the journal a few weeks ago?

http://journal.crossfit.com/2009/05/...tt-contest.tpl (WFS)

I tried this morning and pulled a 922 on damper setting 6, I feel like I can crack 1000 but I fell off the seat.

But any score would be affected by how much you weigh. Look at the Concept 2 website. They track times for all sorts of distances - they are based on being either a light or heavy weight athlete. The heavy weight athletes always are faster.

Good point. Couldn't we handicap their results the same way lighter athletes' run times are handicapped?

Just pull until your wattage starts to go down, record the highest number.
Usually take about 10-12 pulls.

Re: C2 Watt Contest

Hey Derek,
I met you back in July when I was down in TN coaching a team of rowers. I just wanted to let you know that the Canadian National team has an erg test based on wattage - it is 3 strokes. This is considered one of the easiest and hardest erg tests. Cracking a 1000 watts in 3 strokes is tough - the guys that make the Olympic boats - generally can crack 1500-1600. The stroke of the Croatian double - 1649 - and he weighs 210 @ 6'4. Just beastly.

My 3 stroke PR - 1401 watts. 6'3 @ 168lbs.

Thanks for the info, what damper setting do you use? And is it 3 pulls only?

Re: C2 Watt Contest

Damper is whatever you want it to be. 3 strokes only. Generally I use an 8-9 damper.
