Groin Issue

I have been working on my flexibility for the past 2 months, to great benefit. About 1 week ago, while working on some splits (I was on my back, legs perpendicular to floor w/knees straight and out to the side), I stretched a bit far and felt a painful twinge in my right adductor, about an inch and half from my crotch. I stopped working that area, and had very minimal pain for the rest of the day, though I was certainly aware of it.

The injury has not effected my range of motion for squats or deadlifts, though I can feel it while running - it is not painful while running, but again, I am aware of it.

However, massaging the very limited area (roughly one square inch) is EXTREMELY painful. As soon as my fingers leave that area, no pain at all. Is this most likely a muscle tear? Should I continue to massage the area (it hurts, but if it helps, I can work through the pain)? Should I continue massaging around the area? If CFing doesn't aggravate the injury, should I continue full-go? Thanks for any suggestions or similar experiences...

Probably some type of strain.

I don't really recommend doing them on your back like that.. better to do them using the ground to force them out as you have more control with your arms rather than gravity driving your legs down.

Rest it a lot. Hydrate... massage should help some but don't go too hard into it obviously. There's a fine line between good massage (that hurts) and massage that hurts too bad.
