How about who drives a golf cart the farthest?

Holy .......

You actually went there.

I had heard of some people making fun of this particular event with this analogy, but you sir actually posted it. That is THE most awesome post on this forum ever.

I literally just face palmed sitting at my desk and laughed so hard. I owe you a debt of thanks for making my night.

Yes I'm serious.

And folks shouldn't knock it, it is an Olympic sport, after all (WFS).
What?
Have you ever thrown a grenade?

I totally expected my first grenade to feel like a softball too.
I played softball hard core for 8 years before I ever had a chance to throw a grenade.

I assure you, they're completely dissimilar in feel, weight, and movement. A grenade weighs double the weight of a standard softball. The diameter of a grenade is completely different, as is the shape.
There's limited, if any, correlation between a grenade throw and a softball throw.

Jesus ****. I get that throwing softballs is fun. I love playing catch and I love getting on the field and making the long play to the base...but don't tell me a softball throw is functional because it's EXACTLY LIKE THROWING A GRENADE. They are exactly NOT alike.

To clarify:
I don't mind the idea of HQ testing the 'broad time and modal domains', and I think it's totally cool that they're pulling in some pretty heavy skill specific stuff (sorta).

But don't tell me they're doing it because throwing a softball is comparable, in any manner, to throwing a grenade. Don't sell me **** and try to convince me it's steak. They're doing it because it's a foreign skillset for many of the athletes, and it'll show weakness in their abilities. They've got time to learn, but *shrug* I know many a man much larger, stronger, and faster than I am, who throws like a sissy*****nancypants.

Isn't a good throw mostly technique anyway? I forsee some blown shoulders or elbows when someone tries to chuck it.

And seriously....a grenade? I hope that was a joke.
