I believe this Painstorm was created by Gunny Burke. Credit goes there. We use the Buddy system all the time. It is a great motivator. There is competition and support with in the team. September's Painstorm will have a buddy component in it, as well as carrying/holding/walking with heavy stuff.

Brooks Kubik writes some really motivating stories on a the subject in his Dinasour Training book. Makes you want to jump out and go training!!

I just did a farmers walk for the first time the other day. Heh funny thing is I was unsure what a good distance would be for a first time or weights - subsequently I picked up a 2pood kettlebell in each hand while wearing a 40lb weight jacket and went for 400 meters. It was upon returning I heard a few people go WTF? Too much for a 170lb 18 year old?

Let's go do some strongman stuff this week. farmers walks, barbell walks (over shoulders), truck pulls, truck pushes, sled drags. we'll have a blast.

You could make a fun medley out of just carries. Farmer's Walk, sprint back, zercher carry, sprint back, overhead walk, sprint back, deadlift walk, sprint back for time. Just a fun idea we have done before.

Just for fun I grabbed a 45lb plate and walked on the treadmill for 1 mile today. 17:22. Slow and painfull. No putting the weight down. No stopping.

I highly recommend it. Great warm up.
