thumb/hand injury

Issue: For the past three years, my right thumb and hand have been hurting. Initially I thought it was from Kayaking, but I was diagnosed with osteo- arthritis MC-C joint(?) - at the base of my thumb.
I had three opinions on this one as I didn't believe it could be arthritis. I have tried braces, but they seemed to make it worse.

Symptoms: palm of hand hurts and sometimes burns. Base of thumb and thumb are aggravated /inflamed. I cannot put any pressure on my hand - so things like wall ball, push up, holding a bar.. I cannot do pain free. I tried for a while but that caused tennis elbow and shoulder pain, so I backed off.
I have tried to minimize the use of my right hand to get the inflamation down and taking way too many Advils.

Make a long story short... Does anyone have experience with this and how can I work around it?

Thanks in advance,
