May I post a thread seeking donations?

I am running the 2010 Marine Corps Marathon for the IAFF Burn Foundation and I'm seeking donations for support. Would it be ok if I posted a thread asking for donations/support in Stuff and Nonsense?

Re: May I post a thread seeking donations?

There are several posts like this in community. I don't know the offical stance, but due to the behavior of the mods regarding these sorts of posts(which is no response), HQ seems fine with them.
