Well, I met Pukie today. Nice guy. Pops in every now and then to let you know you are working hard enough. I was doing Squat Cleans and pull-ups. Used 145lbs for the cleans and alternated with pull-ups for 10-8-6-4 reps. Took 14:57 and like I said, Pukie showed up to wish me well.

I wonder about pukie. I've only felt that urge once, and it was after I'd had a few beers on a work trip, and then was guilt-ridden later for not working out, and did the WOD. That hurt.

But I encounter fuzzy(-head) often, where I push until I about drop the bar on my head. I wonder sometimes if I am not pushing enough, or it just affects different folks differently. I was an out-of-control flight instructor in the Nav, and spent hours upon hours building my barf tolerance, but that's probably a different thing.

Mike:

I have a generally similar experience. I get light-headed before Pukie really comes and sits on me, and 9 times out of 10, I cut back at that point (I *really* don't like Pukie). It also seems prudent if the WOD involves pushing weights over my head.

I think you really have to push yourself to work out hard enough to throw up, and I doubt it's necessary for improvement . . . except as a very occasional 'trial' to see just how hard you can really go when you have to.

David-Yea, I noticed that whenever I do an over head motion, if I'm already feeling sick, that tends to tip me over the edge.
