Re: UFC 135 Rampage - Bones

Bones was pretty impressive, and will be a force to be reckoned with for a while.

Re: UFC 135 Rampage - Bones

Anyone catch the Countdown show? All that hype about the fancy Muscle Pharm facility/silly equipment reminded me of a Dolph Lundgren in Rocky...

And what the hell was that kinda deadlift/clean thing he did when he dropped the barbell? They kept showing it like it was impressive.

Please chime in if you agree/disagree but I think it would benefit Rampage to gain some lean mass, move up to heavyweight, and bring that big *** punch without worrying about a cut weight.

I didn't catch the countdown. I'll chime in on the Rampage move to HW statement. That wouldn't be wise at this point in his career. He would be better off leaving his current camp (PuppyLair) and going to AKA. Rampage has the skill set that the guys up at AKA can work with and make him a better all around fighter.

Re: UFC 135 Rampage - Bones

I agree with Doug on Rampage's move to HW - no chance.

I thought he looked as fit as I've ever seen him the other night against Jones. I forget exactly what they were saying, but he only had to lose either 6 or 7 pounds for that fight because he was walking around under 215#.

And like Doug said, a change of training venue/teams might not be a bad idea either.

PS: Rampage looks like a slob when he's in the 240-250 range, and it is simply NOT that easy to gain 40+ pounds of lean mass when you are his size and his age. He'd get pummeled by the HW guys.

Re: UFC 135 Rampage - Bones

Rampage looked good in terms of conditioning and defense.

Where was his offense? He let Bones nickel and dime him to the point of no return. Where was the brutal onslaught from Rampage? Was his fight plan to "see how long you can last against this kid"?

I was disappointed. Yes, Bones has a frightening arsenal, but I didnt even know his opponent that night because it sure as hell wasnt Rampage Jackson.

I'm pretty sure the reason that it appeared he had no offense is because he was busy trying to defend (mostly unsuccessfully) Jones' offense. And what little offense he showed was pretty well defended by Jones.
In short - I think he underestimated Jones, and was unprepared to be dominated in that fight.

So glad to see no-class Rampage get smashed. The UFC will be better when jerks like Rampage and Kos get beat and get gone.

Jon Jones is slated to face Machida next. That will be interesting to watch.
