Paleo Breakdown

Is there a breakdown of what we should be eating for paleo, like 100g Protein 80g of Carbs etc or is it just eat until your full with caveman foods and it doesn't really matter how many grams of protein, carbs, suger, fat your getting?

Re: Paleo Breakdown

From my understanding of Paleo, its not about quantity but about quality of food.

You will be less hungry if you are eating protein and fat then if you are eating high GI carbs. Fruit and veggies will be enough carb in take and your body will adjust to using fat for fuel.

Just see how you go, eat when Paleo foods when your hungry and dont eat when your not hungry and you should be sweet

Re: Paleo Breakdown

It depends on the person, but many just eat Paleo foods and not worry too much about the quantity. Others use a paleo-zone diet and use the zone blocks to measure how much they eat.
Hope it helps

Re: Paleo Breakdown

Check out Mark's Daily Apple (WFS)--he's got a few good articles discussing that subject. This one and this one in particular (both WFS) break down how many grams of carbs you should eat per day based on your goals. A few of his posts discuss protein intake and say to shoot for about 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight every day. Beyond that, eat when you're hungry and stop when you're not.

Re: Paleo Breakdown

The protein is the only requirement (about 1 gram/lb) and enough calories to support your goals.

Re: Paleo Breakdown

I love Paleo for that reason, it is one of the simpliest things for nutrition, eat Caveman food(aka healthy) and eat when your hungry and stop when full, how easy is that. No if we can the other billions and billions of overweight people to do that, the world would be way better

Your nutritional requirements don't change depending on whether your eating a paleolithic or neolithic diet so you should still aim to get the RDA of all micro and macronutrients.
