Morning All,

I trust the world is treating everyone well enough?!

I have a question that has nothing to do with Crossfit but figured this forum as such a broad user base of informed people I may get some helpful info;

If someone claims to be a Diplomat, is there anyway of finding out wether they actually are? The person in question is not the same nationality of the country they claim to be a diplomat for (if that makes any diff or not?).

Thanks in advance for any useful help/advice in advance.

Ham

Hi Paul,

Not sure where you're going with this, but the diplomatic mission that this person claims to be affiliated with can confirm or deny that this person is indeed a "diplomat".

It's rare that a diplomat is not a national of the country they represent. The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations says a person should be, "in principle." It can happen, but it's not common.

I'm just speculating, but is this person claiming immunity in some form? If so, bear in mind that under the general heading of "diplomatic personnel" are a variety of different categories, from diplomatic agents to service staff, and different rules apply to different types of personnel.

Hope this helps!

You may be able to get some information by contacting the embassy they are affiliated with.

Richard,
Send me an email offline with the info and I can probably find out in a relatively short time. Few days, I think, maybe less.
