I'm getting ready to order some med balls and can't decide between the D-balls from Gill Athletics or the medicine balls from Dynamax. I hear the Dynamax are softer (i.e. less injurious) but they don't stand up to ball slams as well as the D-balls.

Also, I'm trying to decide on sizes. 8# and 20#?

Opinions?

First question:
Both
Weight really depends on age range. If you are on a budget and plan on only working with adults get the 20# and a 12# from Dynamax and the same with the D Ball.
We have a wide variety of weight ranges due to our kids classes. But the above weights are what most people use in the adult classes.

Thanks Jeff. I'm going to start with an order of 2 each of the 8# and 20# D-balls. The population here is a little older, so I think the 8# should be good to start.

Hey, by the way, Bigger Faster Stronger is having a big sale on their lighter barbells. $89 for the 15 lb. Alumalite and $69 for their 30 lb. barbell. I've had both for quite a while and they are incredibly useful. I'm going to order 3 or 4 each.

Thanks,
Picked up a Hampton 30# the other day. Been happy with it. I need to order more light ones and Bumper Plates. If you find a deal on those let me know.

Linc,

So how is the location hunt going???
My answer too is both. I have the 6, 12, 20 dynamax balls

Still saving for the d-balls

If you get a chance when you order your dynamax talk to Jim. I spoke to him several times during the purchase and he is a great guy and a wealth of information. I chose the 6lb because of his thougths on weight vs. speed generation. And the instruction book for med balls that he gives is better than you will get anywhere. I learned several things that I have not seen anywhere else.

Good luck with the new place!!

Jeff, best luck I've had is with the Ivanko 5kg bumpers. They are relatively cheap, especially compared to other 5kg bumpers. For the 10kg bumpers, BS Olympic Gym sold me a pair of RB Rubber for $100.

Linc,

The front page looks great! I added it to my links section of my blog

You never know when someone from Chicago goes to Sedona on a vacation.

Linc,

You're in SEDONA? Damn...I am down in Phoenix (well, Glendale to be precise...). I got to come up and take a look at the place....interestingly, there might be an opportunity for my wife and I to spend a bit of time in Sedona at my in-law's time-share, since they're basically too unhealthy to travel from out-of-state....

email me at timw@practicaltactical.net and we can coordinate, if OK with you.

Tim

Sounds great Tim, love to have you stop by.

Stay frosty! People are dying in Phoenix from the heat right now! Not much cooler in Sedona at the moment, 95 degrees at 10 a.m.

Linc

Looks like the dates would be mid-September if we go (or can convince my inlaws to stay home!!!)

95 degrees? That's it? When I do my 400m runs it's been 90. Helps one's warm-up. :-)

Tim
remains unimpressed. :-)
