Everyone else has pretty much said what I was going to.

KBs for exposing people to new stimulus because they aren't common like DBs and you can do a million things with them, but DBs tend to be less "scary" to people.
Start with light KBs. Smaller than it seems like you need. You'll use them for sure.
Don't bother with competition KBs. Definitely get hex head DBs, but I don't think you need rubber coated heads--all metal is fine.
