Chin strength and neck support for fighters

Pretty much exactly how the title reads. People have been asking me constantly about this issue so I did some extra research coupled with my personal experience and knowledge and I wrote a small article and shot a video sharing some of my knowledge on some things you can do to improve your chin!

I was curious how many of you guys spar, wrestle, roll or fight and what your experience is on this topic. Have you been knocked out? What do you remember? Have you taken any steps to protect yourself from it happening again or at all?

safe for work kids and all that

Thanks guys!

Re: Chin strength and neck support for fighters

Never been knocked out- don't plan on it either, haha.

I've been hit hard enough that my jaw has ached for a day or two though. I do believe that strengthening the trapezius muscles through Oly lifting, as well as various neck exercises have helped with preventing me from being KO'd. I also have a belief that for strengthening the neck, jujitsu is about one of the best ways you can go. Resisting chokes, can openers, cranks, it all helps strengthen the neck muscles.

Sorry I haven't watched your vid yet, can't right now.

I agree wholly on the jits and wrestling aspect. Bridging, getting choked and having your neck twisted and contoured in some amazingly uncomfortable positions. Not to mention getting in a clinch with a thai guy and he's going to be yarding your *** all over the place by your neck lol

Another great exercise for strengthening the neck is Muy Thai pummeling. My neck was aching for days after my first sparing.

Excellent point yes! That Thai clinch position is no joke at all! Great suggestion and point.
