Although I don't practice any martial arts, I'm a big fan of the UFC. One of my favorite fighters was Don Frye. I don't recall seeing a guy so willing to stand toe to toe and absorb/give punishment. Where did he end up? Damn, he was an exciting fighter.

He eventually went to Pride and had a few fights, one of which was a super wild punch fest with Yoshihiro Takayama. He got way bigger too. He's actually had two fights this year after taking off 2005.

He got really huge physically when he started doing the pro-wrestling in Japan. I remember not having seen him since UFC, and then he showed up in Pride all huge and his chest all waxed.

Don Frye, P.I., as we like to call him.

I enjoyed watching him fight, he has a big heart.

Yep, great fight against Takayama, and I believe he announced his retirement at the end of the that fight. Which was in Pride.

Yeah, he didn't retire, though. I think he had some health concerns regarding his neck at the time, but he was later able to get help for his injuries. ALthough, if you look at his record, he might have been better off if he'd retired then, since he went on to lose a bunch in a row.
