Article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-15137948 (WFS)

They are going to tax foods high in saturated fats.

Be much better if they taxed foods high in sugar, but I would still be against that type of sin tax too. Stay the hell out of my life and let me make my own decisions.

And for the record, I'm against farm subsidies too.

Aw man, that's what this is? I was hoping it was "You're fat, give us money." Not "This stuff has fat in it, give us money."

That is the product of a culture in severe decline...

"We taxed fat and people are still getting fatter."
"Hmm, what should we do next, since this obviously wasn't the answer?"
"Higher taxes?"

The Australian politcal party the Greens (I would get kicked off these forums if I told you what I thought of them) want a fat tax introduced in Australia as well. Taxing foods high in saturated fat.

Seriously people, it is my right to eat what I want, even if the food is bad for me, as that is my RIGHT. The government has no place telling me what I can and cannot eat.

They are not telling you what you can and cannot eat, just making you pay a bit more for it.

Personally i do think they missed the mark big time. Taxing grass fed butter but not doritos?

And you don't think the purpose of said taxes is the government attempting to discourage said behavior?

That should not be the role of any free government. Now if you want a socialist/fascist type of government, then this is right up those alleys.
