My experience on the Zone and Paleo Diet
So there is always a ton of discussion on the Zone and Paleo Diet, I have tried both and ended up settling on the Zone Diet, works great for me personally. The Zone was the missing piece to the puzzle for me and a pinnacle discovery in my training. I started feeling better both mentally and physically, which allowed me to push harder within my training and performance, thus resulting in a leaner, stronger, happier, and fitter me!!!
However, it took me some time to find the right nutrition plan for me, and feel like I have tried it all!! I wrote an article discussing my path and many diets tried throughout the years, till finally settling on the Zone!! http://myjourneyrx.com/2014/03/11/my...the-zone-diet/ wfs If you have questions or feedback, let me know. Anyone else following Zone with the same success? Thanks, Michelle ![]() |

Hey Charles, Great question!! That is whats so great about the Zone Diet, once you get settle in and know exactly what you're eating, then you can dial in even more. If you're low on energy then Bump up you fat intake. After several months, I had to add fat and times by fat blocks by 3. Depending on the day, if I do two workouts in that given day, I'll bump up my blocks from 14 to 16, sometime 18. It all depends how I feel. So experiment and play around with it, there's nothing better then being able to dial in your nutrition to a tee!! Take Care, Let me know if you have anymore questions, happy to help ![]() Michelle ![]() |

Re: My experience on the Zone and Paleo Diet
Yes, carbohydrates are an essential energy source, but definitely not your only source of energy. Personally, since adding more healthy fats into my diet, MCT Oil, Coconuts Oil and or raw butter, I have felt a substantial impact upon my energy levels in a positive manner.
I used to run out of gas during my WODs and would add more carbohydrates to my diet, but still felt like crap. Even throughout the day would experience the highs and lows in terms of my energy level. However, after getting on board with the Zone Diet that has changed and I have found adding more healthy fat to my diet has boasted my energy levels more so then just spiking my insulin with more carbs. I no longer feel tired all the time, or gased during WODs and I also feel as though I recover better as well. This is based on my own personal experience and that is all, nothing set in stone or from this study or that study. Just what has worked for me. |
