Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

If they had wiped the slate clean prior to the last three events, Rich still would have won on the men's side. Kristan would have won the women's with Annie coming in 2nd.

Re: 2012 Open, Regional and Games thread

i would like to see it go the other way and have the scores from the open and regionals count toward the final standings also. right now the slate does get wiped clean after the open and again after the regionals. i would like to see all workouts count towards finding the fittest on earth.

Btw, not to sound weird....are you a crossfitter, ya look like you could compete in a bodybuilding show!

I also like the analog of the games being the finals, the regionals being the semis and the open being the quarters.
Haha, that was a few weeks after a bodybuilding show I did. I'm pretty much all out crossfit now and have been for the past year or so. I still get to lift heavy stuff so it's all good

I don't necessarily think that the banger WOD was an "eliminator",WOD. It was the culmination of points up until that event that eliminated you. Change the order of the events any any WOD right before the cut could be called an "elemination" WOD. In any case, while rowing, kettlebell swings etc... Are what we all do in our box's everyday, lets not forget the crossfit prescription of constantly varied, high- intensity, functional movement. With me at least there's no argument that the banger WOD incorporated a very functional movement; ask and firefighter, logger, or baseball player.

Interesting idea, only issue is so many aren't performing the workouts for everyone to see. I think most would agree that even with the athletes performing the open workouts at crossfit boxes there are reps that are being counted but not meeting the proper standards.

Track, strongman, motocross, football, soccer, etc. etc.You can annihilate everyone in quarter and semi finals, but if you get beat in the finals...you lose. Should the Patriots get to be super bowl champs if they come in with a perfect season even if they lose the game because they've already "proven" how much better they are.

I just think at some point if you're going to be champion you need to win. Not just place 4th in everything.

I think the best example that could relate to CF is strongman. They do it pretty well.
Let's look at your football example. You would have a point if every team competed in every game. As it is they don't so it's apples to fords.

Motorcross is done no different so not sure why you included it. NASCAR would have been the best comparison.

What Paul just said...plus keep in mind Open and regional workouts are held in different locations under different weather conditions and at different altitudes and whatnot. Combine those factors with inconsistent judging standards at each individual gym, and you'd basically be giving people permission to self-report whatever they wanted to for scores.

Now that we've seen all the WOD's, how do you guys think Josh Bridges would have done?

I think he would have done VERY well on the tri. I think a LOT of folks had DOMS after that for the rest of the weekend.
