"Kelly" 01-FEB-09

Rxd:

Five Rounds For Time:

400M Run
30 Wall Balls @ 20lbs
30 Box Jumps @ 24' box.

Did "Kelly" today. My wife keeps wondering why most of the WOD's are named after women. She says its mans obsession with dominating a woman. I tell her I don't know...but sounds sensible...certainly makes me feel good when i finish one of these workouts, regardless of name.
Anyway, today was rough. Had to scale it down a bit, but not too much. Did the first round as Rxd. Then every other round was 20 and 20. Pretty much went like this:

Five Rounds for Time:

400M Run
20 Wall Balls @ 20lbs
20 Box Jumps @ 24'

Time: 26:06 mins. I was tired but my legs were thoroughly blasted. By the way, I havent had alot of time to post the previous weeks WODs due to lack of computer access, but be assured Im doing them. Hope all is well.

I personally feel like I get dominated by all these chicks.

Nick:

The "girls" are named after actual Crossfit women. "Kelly" is named after Kelly Moore who lives in Madison Wisconsin. She made the mistake of mentioning that she wasn't very good at box jumps to Coach and voila!

Welcome aboard. Fasten your seat belt.

Is your wife under the impression that only men do WOD's named after women?

Or, maybe she was pulling your leg?

I think I remember reading somewhere that the idea of naming workouts after womens' names came from the practice of naming hurricanes with womens' names.

Re: "Kelly" 01-FEB-09

Did a modified version of kelly, that I believe is worse than the real thing. 5 rounds for time of: Run 400m, 30 Box jumps 24" box, 7 Thruster 95#.

Re: "Kelly" 01-FEB-09

I'm a bit confused on the sub. for the wall-ball toss.

It says to double the weight, and do it as a thruster; but it's also a bit ambigious, as it mentions using dumbbells (as in it's not a good idea to throw the dumbbell in substitution for a ball Lol).

So if it's a 20lb wall-ball throw, am I using 2 20lb dumbbells/ 1 barbell, OR 2 40lb dumbbells (in theory - I don't see 5rnds of 30 reps happening!)
