Thinking of creating a cell phone workout tracking app for my Masters project...

What I want to know is if anyone out there thinks this type of tool would be useful (I don't want to work on something that no one but me thinks is cool ). The basic outline of the software is:

You download it onto your java-enabled cell phone (or whatever java-enabled mobile device you use), then, instead of taking a pad an paper with you to the gym, you take your cell phone and use the software to record your times/weights/etc. The software would store the data, and you can use it to track your progress, maybe there could be a companion software for your computer to synch data/workout plans.

So, do you guys think this would be a worthwhile project?

Thanks!

Make it easy on yourself and just do it for the iPhone and/or Android. More screen real estate to work with and a high proportional market share (iPhone).

Go for it!

There are a few guys discussing doing an iPhone app in this thread:

Perhaps you could coordinate with them to bring it out into the non-iPhone world!

If it came prebuilt with Crossfit bench mark WODs I think this would be great. If I just had to put in my numbers for the day. I've left several notebooks at gyms never to be seen again... I doubt I'd forget my phone.
