CF and arm workouts?

I know I'll likely catch flak for this but, while CF has made me much stronger, explosive and has given me more stamina (THANK YOU!), it hasn't made my arms/biceps any bigger. So, in search of more aesthetically pleasing arms, I was thinking of supplementing CF WODs with arm workouts once or twice a week (curls, etc.). What are your thoughts? (yes I know that bigger arms aren't that important, but I want them ).

Thanks!

If you want to do curls every so often, have at it. Personally, I'd do hammer and reverse curls since they at least work a few more functional muscles rather than the traditional curls.

Well, since my answer would have been one of the ones that you figured you would get, I'll spare us both. I've walked that path already, and I'm far more satisfied with continuing to build more athletic, functional strength. To each his own though, so best of luck.

Cheers,

Mark

Re: CF and arm workouts?

Hey I admit, I sneak some curls in every now and then. I am 23 yrs old. However, I don't think you need a whole workout. I would just bust out a few sets of curls a few times a week, I don't think you need a workout for it. The WODS with some curls mixed in should give you what your looking for.

Although since doing crossfit, I have became "prouder" of my other body parts, I like that I have big traps now from all of the O-lifting and heavy deads. I also like how my shoulders look like bowling balls from all of the pullups and presses we do. So yes I sneak in some curls here and there, but I truly believe you get a more "fit", and probably just as attractive to the ladies look with the typical X-fit protocol.

I don't disagree with you guys- I've been looking (and feeling) much better after 6-8 months of CF than I've ever been. I've just always wanted bigger arms.

Re: CF and arm workouts?

My biceps feel shredded after doing the 100's of pullups the CF requires. Alot of the movements required do work your biceps and tri's, just not in the traditional way.

Weighted pullups, weighted dips

If those don't work come to me and we'll talk about rings.

Re: CF and arm workouts?

do underhand grip for pull-ups (commonly called chin-ups) instead of overhand grip, it works your biceps better and will make them stronger (aka bigger) and will work much better than bicep curls
