Re: Your Best Stuff

• Eggs. i dunno what i'd do without them. they're amazing.

• My climbing rope (BlueWater Eliminator, 60m x 10.2mm)...more because of how much trust i put in it. i don't think there's any other single item on the planet i trust as much.

• All of the technology i used to take care of my diabetes. i was lucky to be born in an age of genetically-engineered insulin and plastics...no pig's insulin and reusing needles...

• My La Sportiva Miura climbing shoes. when i put them on, i feel a little bit like a superhero...

• Most of all, my positive attitude and adventurous nature. yeah, it's cheesy, but they're my most prized possessions. they've gotten me this far, and i still have a while more to go, so i'm going to do everything i can to keep them.

Re: Your Best Stuff

This is a really great thread.

A few things:

1. My wife, marriage and kids. Being deployed, it is good knowing my wife is keeping things together.
2. Earning my EGA Feb 2, 1990 and my blood stripe in Nov 1, 1992.
3. MacBook Pro. I struggled so long using windows.
4. Palm Treo 700p
5. Casio G-shock it is an older analog model. I have had it since 1993. Changed the battery once.
6. My Maltese named Prince. He has been gone for almost 2 years. He was my best pal and I will always miss that little boy.
7. My 160GB iPod Classic. I stopped collecting music in 1996. I have 600 or so CD’s at home. Started collecting music again. It makes life on the road so much better…
8. My health and fitness. They are getting better and better. Plus my accumulated training equipment and knowledge.
9. Belisles Restaurant. There is no way to describe this place. It was in Garden Grove at Harbor and Chapman by Disneyland. It was opened for 44 years before the rented land was sold. They have a hotel there now.
10. Kitchen stuff Healthcraft Cookware & Vitamix Blender.
11. Tivo
12. Living Air Classic
13. Old Gerber Bolt-action Exchange Blade knife with changeable blades. Been with me since my first deployment in 1990. I keep it razor sharp.
14. Custom Comfort Mattress. A local Orange County California company. Excellent quality!
15. Good coffee. I like 100% Kona from Trader Joe’s brewed in a simple press.

Thanks for sharing,

Marc

Re: Your Best Stuff

* My sister's BS in Engineering, she earned it but I paid for it.

* Haggar Q dress slacks in plain black, the pockets are rated for twenty pounds, and hold my glock 36 in one pocket and spare mag and flashlight in the other, and they are wrinkle free.

* goatskin A2 flight jacket with BOYINGTON patch and Flying Tiger insignia including Adam and Eve flight squadron patch

* Schott horsehide car coat, not made anymore. Horsehide takes years (yes I said years) to break in, but once it does it drapes just as well as goatskin and lamb but wears like iron.

* Ecco shoes, have worn them for many 16+ hour days, have had the same pair for 3+ years and have worn them almost everyday, I've gone through two sets of laces.

* Buell Blast, My wife bought it for me on my birthday, it's kinda small for me but I'll never sell it.

Re: Your Best Stuff

From a fitness perspective:

- my workout partner, she rocks and keeps me motivated. Nothing else matters that much.

Re: Your Best Stuff

  • Dads old '68 Vette. My folks bought it in '73. It was his. Now it's mine, and some day my kid will own it.
  • My Trager backpack. Owned it for almost 10 years now. Has a inner sleeve for a notebook. Sleeve has a handle on it to let you carry just the sleeve easily. Rugged as can be, abused for years, not a single blemish on it.
  • Music in general, and my wealth of cds now half ripped onto the system. (hard drive outta room )
  • my bought-off-a-truck bed. Never a bad nights sleep

Re: Your Best Stuff

Bump. Found this thread in an off topic search. If you're mad I bumped an almost 5 year old thread...

1. My first self made Osage Orange long bow - 68" 38# @ 29" draw.

2. Pandora. If the internet dies, so does my music. Radio sucks IMO.

3. Five Guys Cheeseburger "All the Way" - seriously, it's there methcrackcaine in them?

4. Autonomy.

5. Amazon - one-click purchasing!
