not stupid at all.
as prescribed by the crossfit doctrine, these are mostly done as circuits or one giant set of 3 or 4 exercises with minimal rest between each exercise. you rest for the allotted time after you have completed all the exercises. as some of the routines are timed ( how many cycles can you accomplish in 30 minutes) you may have to minimize the rest between the cycles. work up to it though as you will blow out too fast in the beginning if you try to go with no rest whatsoever. shoot for a minute rest between cycles then as you improve, you can lower the time between the cycles. some people monitor their recuperation by their breathing ( as in " hey, i can breathe now without collapsing so i must be ready for my next cycle ) whereas others go by the heart monitor ( as in, " i can actually distinguish between beats now rather than one continuous loud roar of my heart, so i must be ready for my next set!" )
hope this has helped.

Mathew-the current edition of the Crossfit Journal describes the theory behind the design of the WOD. it is very informational and interesting.
