ok i made myself one a while back and it came in right at 21 pounds, like most I've read about.

Now I'd like to make one/some for my daughter and her BB team, yet I feel I may need to start them at 10 pounds or so.

So is their something lighter then sand ? That will fill it?
Thanks

I would just fill the ball up to 10 pounds or get a smaller basketball.

I made one for my wife using sugar. It ended up being 13 lbs with the 29.5" ball.

When I made a 29.5", a 28", and a 9" ball with playground sand, they came out to 25#, 20#, and 10# respectively. If the smaller ball is not an option (or not the option you prefer), I would be curious about maybe a sand and sawdust combination. But I don't think that would be as easy when filling the ball. Maybe some sort of plastic beads. These may be too big, not sure what you might find along those lines.

Thanks. I was thinking about plastic beads . If you have ever been in a plastic molding shop you know the raw material comes in large boxes of pellet sized plastic.

My daughter has tons of reg.sized balls, as every camp and league gives out balls and would like to use these.
