45...crossfitting 3 yrs....switched in Jan to m/w/f crossfit...t..5x5 back squat/press/front squat...th..5x5 deadlift/bench press/oh squat...that being said as a background...About 2 weeks ago I finished up a week with a 5 mile run after a week of 2 squat related xfit w/os and the 2 me sessions...woke up the next day and my thighs were just aching..I could hardly squat down...2 weeks later my thighs still ache alot and have trouble squatting w/o discomfort in my thighs...did an easy week last week w/ no leg work..will probably take this week off..Any suggestions on what I did..and is taking time off the only thing to do?

Strange to be sore that much and for so long...Maybe you broke/tore something. I wouldn't expect a 5 mile run to do that to an extremely unfit person.

This is the first time it has happened I suppose?

Sore is good, aching is bad. You must have injured yourself. I'd take some time off and maybe seek treatment.

Yes..first time its happened. I'm usually sore from w/os but this is like nothing I've experienced. My body must be telling me to take a week off.

try getting a deep tissue massage....could help with recovery
