On the opposite end of the spectrum - This just proves the argument that everyone should be forced to carry guns by law.

How polite would everone be if we all had guns. Sure it would be the wild west for about 3 months, but then it would be:

"Excuse me! did I step on your toes? I am SO sorry!"

"No PROBLEM! I didn't like these shoes anyway. I am sorry for putting my foot where you intended to step."

(a third person runs up)"Is there a problem here? I am sure we can all work out our differences intellegently. . ."

Manners would become life and death skills.

You know, all that happens is that the same thoughts people have--which they would normally not express, but still think--come out raw. I read a Sufi teaching story once, where a man asked to be given the gift to read thoughts, and he was. It took a very short time for him to become very distraught, and request that the gift be taken away. The movie with the Sphere (it had Queen Latifah, Dustin Hoffman, and Samual L. Jackson, if memory serves) had roughly the same message. If any of us were omnipotent, and every thought became reality, what would happen?

For my part, I use the Internet as a tremendously useful tool for learning how people think, not least of all myself. I call the phenomena Goleman discusses "greased rails". There's no friction. It's smooth ice.
