My basement gym is really coming along, it's only 10'X12' but i got a used concept II {$250}, made a 10kg and 5kg slam-ball {$10}, 2" galvanized pipe paraletts {$6}, i covered a 20kg bag of sand with duct tape (kinda a cross between a rock and a sand bag){$6}. I got two old olympic bars from salvage {$15}, made 2, 1 pood kettleballs {$24 for both--needed to buy some of the weights} Couldn't find a used ab-mat so i got one of those new {$30} and a floor model 'Hoist' roman chair {$65}

so far i'm about $400.00 into it and i'm loving it!!!!

so heres a couple questions;

i still need a place to do pull-ups, bench press, squats, deadlift etc... I'm 6'1" the ceiling is only 7', (more if i take out tiles & go between the joists).
Should i get a power-rack and avoid kipping pull-ups or should i make a rack out of 2" galvanized pipe (i love the stuff!) that i can do dips, squats and kipping pull-ups (knees way bent).

Anybody have plans for such a rack?

Any other sugestions about what i should get/make?

Thanks!

Bob, that all sounds excellent. Try this link for homemade equipment: http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/shenand...odyweight.html

Also I've had fun with a sandbag I made using duct tape and a "tube sand" for the back of your truck I call it the Silver Suppository. It weighs 60# and it's a great workout to go from the floor to over head for a 100 reps; really works the grip. Below is a photo for scale:
