Master's deadlift/box jump workout

After watching the archived workout of 21-15-9 deads (315), box jumps (30") i had to try it being in that age group. Wow. Took me 11 minutes. Winner in Games was under 5. Just when you think you're in pretty good shape If the Open category had done this workout what would the rx be?

Open category did the same workout at Regionals. Top time was Austin Malleolo's 3:19. 4:39 from a 42 year old is just ridiculous.

Re: Master's deadlift/box jump workout

I did this at 225 and 30" box jumps and it was rough. I believe I was in the 8 min range. 315 I'd be there MUCH longer!! Not sure I would even attempt that...

Re: Master's deadlift/box jump workout

A week ago yesterday our box did the Masters Final workout from this year's games. End result... ...confirmation to us that the masters making it to the Games are in sick shape. That was a hell of a workout and it took me twice as long as them. The 70 pound KB snatches were out of my league, had to scale that movement down. Even the most fit folks at our box were minutes back from the top times.

Re: Master's deadlift/box jump workout

I hit that workout in just under 8 min even with missing a jump and wiping out hard...and thought I was all that!!!

I have a way to go...can't imagine cutting my time by almost half!!!! But not to bad for 51 years old..

Re: Master's deadlift/box jump workout

Great time Michael. I tried it again several weeks later and was able to break 10, so at least I wouldn't have timed out in the competition. As much as it hurts, that's one of my favorite workouts.
