Re: My Weightlifting Shoe Reviews (VS, Pendlay, Adidas, Nike, Reebok)

I am looking at the Pendlay Do-Win.
How was their sizing?
On their site, they mention ordering a half size smaller from a normal gum shoe, but is this due to the length of the shoe or the width, as I have read other reviews that these shoes run wide.

Any additional feedback that can be provided is greatly appreciated.

Re: My Weightlifting Shoe Reviews (VS, Pendlay, Adidas, Nike, Reebok)

I found a pair of Pendlays on EBay earlier this year and they run the same size as my old VS Athletics, which is to say slightly large.

I wear an 11.5 in my VS and my Pendlays but wear a 12 in most running/training shoes. I didn't notice either VS or Pendlay to be particularly wide.

I actually can't tell any major differences between these and the PowerPerfect II's. They're both synthetic leather (or whatever you call it), same heel, same sole...pretty much same everything down to the breathing holes in the top of the foot.

I would go with the Adidas over the VS all day

Sold! Thanks man

Sorry for the repost but any thoughts on the reebok oly vs the adidas power lift trainer? If the reebok is better is it $60 better?

I have had the Adidas AdiStars for about 2 years, and they are still holding strong, and I love the old school look to them. The only bad thing about them is they are a just a bit too narrow for me. I'm going to give the Reebox OLYs a try once they game out again.

Re: My Weightlifting Shoe Reviews (VS, Pendlay, Adidas, Nike, Reebok)

Just got the Adidas Powerlift Trainers - had a 20% off coupon from City Sports, so it ended up being a pretty good deal for $72, though they only had them in grey, which is fine.

Have only used them for squatting so far, and they seem really solid, supportive and comfy. Fit is true to size (I'm a 10.5 with a medium width foot) and I find the heel feels pretty firm enough to me, though I'm not likely to ever be squatting more than 325lbs (and I still have a ways to go before I get to that weight). All in all, feels like a great "starter" lifting shoe.

Depends on your needs. The Olys have a solid TPU (hard plastic) heel which will remain rigid under quite a lot of weight. They are also extremely flexible in the forefoot and have very thin sole in that area. So they are more "multi-use" than a regular lifting shoe. The pl trainer is going to compress under heavy loads and isn't nearly as functional.

Hope that helps some.
