Re: Mikko's Numbers!!!!

I think this year will see more events completely unlike crossfit workouts we're used to like the sledge/row event from last year. Something about the "announcement of the workouts, but not really" post on the games website leads me to think there will be two or more real world tasks. Shovel 500lbs of gravel for time maybe? The sandbag sprint last year was something no one could have prepared for and i bet this year they're going for more of the same. Tasks more relate-able to the real world that no one could have prepared for. If there are more of these, i put my money on Rob Orlando from his extremely varied strongman background. If it's just a bunch of crossfit style workouts we're all used to, my money is on Mikko. Either way, i can't wait.

Re: Mikko's Numbers!!!!

Being that Mikko is a FF, I'm sure he has plenty of "Real-World" training.

Actually, I think a lot of boxes do sandbag sprints -- maybe not with quite the HILL found at The Ranch... but that's another story.

I will agree with you, though, that the "real world" event last year was the row and spike drive.

I noticed this about many of the higher ranking athletes. I did however see that Jason Khalipa is 5'12" tall...awesome!!!

Psshh...you think that's impressive? Moe Kelsey is 0'6" and deadlifts 505! I guess they were right that short people can deadlift more.

all i can say is WOW!
Rob Orlando has an awesome chance when you compare him and Mikko. Rob kills Mikko on anything with weight and competes in everything met-con. It's hard to pick a winner at all, there are 20+ athletes that have never even been to the games before! I also think Spealler will do well save another Deadlift event or anything for max pounds. His Filthy 50 time is ridiculous!

Also, you really can't judge based on those stats. The athletes went to each one of those workouts knowing what they were up against, at the games they will have no idea! Look at Michael Fitzgerald's stats, absolutely nothing impressive on there compared to the other athletes, but he was 11th last year!

I can't believe Mikko's FGB is 500+, I have never seen that before.

Is there a video of him doing FGB out there? That blows me away.

Re: Mikko's Numbers!!!!

I know that one of the tenets of CF is to: "regularly learn and play new sports", but I've never really enjoyed watching (let alone playing) sports, save MMA. CrossFit is something I can get behind and follow and I can't wait to watch the games this year. I thoroughly enjoy watching these folks do WODs and hope as the sport grows, so will it's coverage on the sports channels. 9 innings of an MLB game? Pfft. Give me CF anytime.
