Re: UPDATED Before & After pics - 8 Months of CrossFit

Jen:

May seem bizarre (or creepy), but I'm going to save the Word doc (and the forum hyperlink) to show my wife that unless you really want to, CF doesn't bulk you up, AND that she shouldn't let the scale dictate success in weight loss/fitness. As noted above, only 2 pounds, but a noticeable difference June to September.

Edit: forgot to add...amazing results.

Re: UPDATED Before & After pics - 8 Months of CrossFit

Jennifer,
I just had to take a minute to thank you for posting your pictures. They are such an inspiration!
It's awesome to have someone to look up to, and to see how a body can transform... and with all the hard work I've done these past 2 months- and all I continue to do -and the scale's not budging- it's ok because I know it will with time- and even if it doesn't I am stronger and faster than I was. I can't wait until I get my first pull up.. or fit into a size 4.. With the proof you've given us, I know it can happen. So, when I feel discouraged I can read this thread.. and thank you again.

Great work Jen. I wouldn't worry about the scale though. I clearly see a difference in body composition. The difference in muscle mass can easily offset the fat loss. How much more fat do you think you can safely afford to lose? Couple of pounds more maybe? Do you have a weight goal in mind?

I have a section of squish around my lower back - it's the muffin tops area. I'd like to see that go away. I don't really have a weight goal in mind. I discovered early on that the scale is deceiving, and should only be used at Dr. appointments so they know how much drugs to give you! The scale is NOT an accurate measure of fitness, health, progress, or accomplishment. One of my goals is to fit into these ADORABLE size 3 white pants that I bought about a month ago. They button, but are WAY too tight to wear in public.

You're SO WELCOME Carleigh! Thanks for the compliment. When I first started CrossFit, I was also under the impression that women would get bulky from lifting weights. My boyfriend kept reassuring me that it wasn't true. Thank GOODNESS he was right!

I think women see the female body builders who use testosterone supplements and just associate that with lifting heavy stuff, and opening jars by yourself. Let me reassure you, I lift heavy stuff and open all my own jars, and I'm still feminine!

Of course you are! Lip gloss and power cleans are not mutually exclusive. You look fantastic, and your PERFORMANCE has been fantastic as well! Twenty kipping pull-ups and 88# thrusters... that's some SERIOUS Girl Power.

My boyfriend always teases me for reaching for my lipgloss before a workout. Doesn't he know that shiny lips make you stronger?!

I set a new back squat PR last night - I did 3 reps at 154lbs! The last rep was really rough...my left eye watered a little, and I caught my spotters swooping in from the sides. Fortunately I stood it up before they touched it! PHEW! I was quiverring and shaking for like 10 minutes following that last rep!
