Growing your own ... cow?

Just right for the garden: a mini-cow (WFS)

Boy do I wish I had a yard! I wonder how much the artificial insemination costs.

Re: Growing your own ... cow?

"For between £200 and £2,000, people can buy a cow that stands no taller than a large German shepherd dog, gives 16 pints of milk a day that can be drunk unpasteurised, keeps the grass “mown” and will be a family pet for years before ending up in the freezer. "

Awesome. But that article was a let down without pictures.

I think sheep would be a better choice if you don't have a lot of space. Or goats, but sheep are easier.

Re: Growing your own ... cow?

I would love to raise my own sheep or cattle (on a small scale) for meat, but I don't think I have the gonads to actually kill the animal. Clean it, yes, but kill, no. Not if I had to look it in the eyes every day until then.

Yes, I'm a weenie.

Heh, that's what my wife said. I think I could get over it, but she said there's no way she could eat our mini-cow's new calf every year.
