Do them with thick handle dumbells, then you get in some grip work as well....

I found that after a really long practice in wrestling my biceps were pretty sore. I think strengthening them didn't hurt anything and probably helped. Serously, how hard is it to do a couple low rep sets of curls. It'll make ya' a better arm wrestler too :D
