Heroes for Heroes Challenge-08-08-10 St. Charles, MO

On August 8th, Crossfit-TNT will host the Heroes for Heroes Challenge to benefit Backstoppers, Inc. Backstoppers provides financial support to the families of police officers/ firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

The event will consist of 5k run, 4 person team competition and a workout in honor of a first responder who died in the line of duty.

The team competition will require all four members of a team to complete the 5k. Each member will then do bench press, deadlift and back squat. The weight used will be the lifter's bodyweight rounded up to the next five pounds for as many reps as possible. There is a two-minute time limit for the squat and deadlift. Each rep completed in the three lifts will take time/ points off of the team's total run time. The team with the lowest score/ adjusted run time will win.

The Crossfit workout will be in honor of St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officer David Haynes. Officer Haynes died on March 24, 2010 after his patrol vehicle was struck by another vehicle while Officer Haynes was attempting to apprehend a burglary suspect. Officer Haynes served in the United States Marine Corps before joining the police department.

The workout will be announced prior to the fundraiser.
