how is wod's planning made?

Hi everyone,
I really like some of the concept behind the cf methodology, but I'm just wondering, how is the planning made? I mean, I can see that all wod are posted by lauren (glassman I should say) at 5:00 pm which is telling me that is a scheduled post.
All that said, is there any way to understand the modality of each wod and the supposed planning cycle suggested in the template:
http://library.crossfit.com/free/pdf...F_Template.pdf
Is there any place that say which wod is which?
ok, hope you experienced guy can help me understand.

Re: how is wod's planning made?

There are some articles in the CFJ about WOD programming. Some of the time, they will have some of the CFElite test out WOD's before releasing them.

That CFJ somewhat explains WOD programming except that it's 7 years old now and may not be the focus anymore.

Some of the WOD's are experiments.

Re: how is wod's planning made?

thanks blair, you definitely made a point.
as you can see i'm new to cf and I thought reading cfj from the beginning was the right way to get into it. It seems to me that it takes a lot of efforts and time to get a true understanding of cf. This is probably also due to the fact that I don't have a garage or any other suitable place at the moment where to train (and follow scaled wod) other than commercial gym or a public outdoor fitness facility, which I definitely prefer but doesn't have any sort of weight of course and apparatus are scattered along a steep hill.
So what I'm trying to do is to understand as much as I can in order to adapt it to the environment and possibility I have over here, any suggestion or idea?
Let's say that I'm trying to build my path to wod as rx'd.
I'm as fit as far as 10 strict PU and dips are. 400m between 1:10 and 1:20
the closest crossfit gym facility is 2hours drive from here!!

thanks, alberto.

ps.
sorry for such a long reply. But I've read some others of your post and your knowledge really seems outstanding.

Magic 8 ball, my friend, and that paper thing that girls used to make in grade school with the numbers and colors on it. What was that thing called anyways? Pick a number. 1,2,3. Pick another number. 1,2,3,4,5. Pick a color. R,e,d. Open that up. Today is Angie.

Re: how is wod's planning made?

Alberto, the truth is I post too much and spend too much time posting and reading here.

If you evaluate the main page WOD's you can see which WOD's are gymnastics, weightlifting, or cardio/metcon but if you look at the order they are in on the mainpage, you won't see the ascribed pattern in that pdf to their order. It is a way to get an idea how to create your own WOD's. There was a 4 or 5 part CFJ video on WOD Programming by Dave Castro a year or two ago.

BrandX scales the daily mainpage WOD, here: http://www.crossfitbrandx.com/index..../viewforum/16/ wfs

Re: how is wod's planning made?

In my opinion, all you have to do is take a look at the WODs, and the fundamentals of CF. CF is functional movements done at high intensity for duration.

You can look back at the previous WODs, and take those that work for you and put them into a hat and pick one!

I am not sure if there is any sort of pattern or trend as to the type of workout, but I am sure if you really wanted to, you could take the previous months WODs and write down the target areas of fitness, and then use that as a guide to picking from your doable WODs.

Just an idea here.

Re: how is wod's planning made?

I'm just playing devil's advocate. In Crossfit, there shouldn't be any cheating. In sports, it's a vague area.
