Re: Droid vs. Iphone

My wife and I both have our own iPhones. Love them, and we used to be Windows-only type users. iPhone was so slick we actually bought a Mac just because we were so impressed using the iPhone. Mac was so slick, now we're probably going to buy an iPad.

Re: Droid vs. Iphone

Not sure if you're talking "Droid" as in the Droid phone, or "Droid" as in the Droid OS.

Phone: Personally, I wasn't a fan of the original Droid phone form-factor and the sliding keyboard. That was one of the reasons that I held out for the Droid Incredible. I love my DInc. (Yeah, that's what she said.)

OS: I left the Blackberry world to come to my DInc, and I haven't regretted a second of it. The Droid OS is versatile, quick, open source, and so far has an app (most of them free) for nearly everything that I need to do. Some (albeit few) of the Droid apps that I use are a little less mature than the corresponding iPhone app, but that hasn't really been an obstacle for me.

I'm also thrilled with having left AT&T. Their customer service and signal service quality had dipped for me over the last few years. No issues thus far with Verizon.

I don't know if you travel at all, but Verizon isn't a GSM carrier. That means that it only works in the US and maybe Canada.

Re: Droid vs. Iphone

Droid hands down. I have one, my partner has an Iphone. She likes the Iphone for apps, hates it as a phone. Service through ATT sucks and don't count on it to have internet connection, even outside cities.
Also, the Iphone has no "back" button. Really? How can Apple miss this? It seems so basic. It's a source of daily frustration.

Re: Droid vs. Iphone

Is it possible to get into either one of these devices but have the phone portion be traditional phone and do data only through wifi? Meaning, I don't want to pay for a data plan and I'm willing to not use data by cell.

"Meaning, I don't want to pay for a data plan"

You have to get one.

Re: Droid vs. Iphone

I have the moto droid with the slide out keyboard. I never use the keyboard and wish I wouldn't have gotten it. I also hate the almost worthless camera. And It's not really that great at making phone calls.

But other than that it's a great phone. i.e. the apps and interface are great.

And I hate itunes...srsly.

Re: Droid vs. Iphone

Any thoughts on Droid X v Droid Incredible? I'll be upgrading from my blackberry soon, and these two options are the ones I'm torn between.

Doesn't seem like the differences between the two are major, but does anyone have any feedback from experience with both?

Re: Droid vs. Iphone

I have heard that Apple and Verizon are trying to broker a deal. In the not too distant future you may not have to decide based on carrier.

My wife and I have iPhones and love them. Good friend has a Droid and is very happy. Carrier is probably the bigger issue but hopefully not for long.

Re: Droid vs. Iphone

Apple and Verizon deals have a long history of falling through. They're been dancing around for years; it might happen this time.
