Balls to the wall....Angie's workout log

Hi there....I've been playing around with the idea of making a workout log for a while and am hoping it will help with my lack of motivation lately. I've been doing crossfit for a little over a year, took about a 3-4 month hiatus and then stocked my garage with gear in April. I started tracking workouts, lifts, and measurements. I also started getting more serious with my food, quit zoning, and tracked it in fitday for about a month. During these few months I saw dramatic improvements in body composition, strength and endurance. I have since fallen off the wagon slightly and am becoming more relaxed with my diet and taking more "rest" days. I'm getting frustrated because it seems my progress has stalled...well duh, you say. That alone should be my motivation, but its not working. So I'm hoping this log will help me do what I need to do.....go balls to the wall and get my sh*t back on track!

A little about my goals: I need to clean up my diet more. I eat paleo, with a few processed things I need to get rid of, like mayo, chocolate milk (unless post wod), cheese, ice cream, etc. These things sneak their way into my week about 2-3 times.

I would also like to get more focused on my workouts, but not sure exactly how to do this....vague, I know. I work out at home as I can't make it to the box more than 1-2 days a week. I want to see more PRs, improved times, etc. I follow the main page or my box (bayou city crossfit) or just make up something I feel like doing that day. I'm thinking I need to read "starting strength" or something along those lines to give me more knowledge as to how to increase lifts efficiently.

So anyhoo....welcome, and thanks for visiting!

Yesterdays WOD:

warmup: 5-4-3-2-1 DL
115, 125, 135, 155, 185 (f).

30 air squats
25 DUs
30 air squats
25 DUs
rest one minute, 4 rounds
total time (including rest mins): 19:40 (beat my previous time from 3 weeks ago by about 2 mins)

Not sure what todays WOD will bring......

Re: Balls to the wall....Angie's workout log

Realized today how little progress I've made in 3 months time......

Warm up:
DL 5 x 5
95, 115, 145, 145, 145

WOD:
row 1000m
21 thrusters (65#)
15 pullups
time: 11:40

I first started doing unassisted pullups in June. I can still only string 3 or 4 together without stopping. WTF? 3 months later and they're still just as hard. I'll cut myself a little slack with the thrusters.....I just started lifting again when I got a bar and plates for the garage in August. The thrusters were just as hard as I remembered.....3 or 4 at a time. I was going to do another round of the workout, with a 750m row, 15 thrusters and 12 pullups, but I ran out of time since the first round took me so damn long. What a crappy start to the day.

Re: Balls to the wall....Angie's workout log

I was planning on taking a rest day today( 5 days on in a row), but felt pretty good when I woke up, so decided to work on butterfly pullups. Very unsuccessful attempts. couldn't even get my chin over the bar. Doesn't seem like I'm strong enough for these....I feel like the kip isn't large enough. Who knows. Tried to switch to regular kips and even those felt really sucky today. Got out a couple skinny bands and did a few deadhangs. BLAH. Pullups are the only reason why I'd love to lose like 40 lbs. haha. I'd be like 80lbs....I'm sure that'd be easier to lift!

Hoping to feel up to a workout when I get out of work today.

Re: Balls to the wall....Angie's workout log

Good sweat fest this morning in the garage.....I'll be happy when it cools down a little bit.

Warm up:
5x5 FS
75, 95, 95, 115(broken, form got ugly), 95

WOD:
10 DL (95#)
15 push ups
10 rounds: 20:45
Lots of noises resembling a goat goin on with this one....whew.

cool down:
15 toes to rings
20 floor wipers (10 vertical, 10 lateral)
2 rounds

Finally feel like I'm getting back on the wagon. My diet has been good lately and I've been consistent with workouts this week. Hope it continues!

Re: Balls to the wall....Angie's workout log

Did a 1/2 intensity workout this morning before work. Wish I could be doing FGB....but gotta work. I'm surprised I'm not feeling too sore from all the workouts this week....just general soreness. Back feels a little tight, too....will make sure to roll it out tonight.

5x5 BS
95
115
115
125 (PR)
125

3 rounds of "Corey"
25 floor sweepers (65# bar- did 10 vertical and 15 lateral)
25 hanging leg raises
25 KBS (25#)
25 back extensions
somewhere around 18 mins.....wasn't going for speed.

Got some new kicks yesterday....Nike Free 3.0 V2. Thinking about taking a run tomorrow. They feel better than the 7.0s a little flatter, lighter, narrower. So far so good.
